We set out to fix that.

In 2024, we launched text.ai, an AI assistant that lived inside your existing chats on SMS, WhatsApp, and Telegram. No app to download. No new interface to learn. Just add it to any conversation.

What happened next surprised us. With nearly zero marketing spend, text.ai grew almost entirely through word of mouth. Thousands of users across 100+ countries. Thousands of group chats created organically.

People weren't just using it for quick answers. They were pulling it into their friend groups, using it to plan dinners, settle arguments, pick movies, and actually do things together.

That's when we realized: the magic wasn't the AI. The magic was what the AI made possible between people.

So we asked ourselves a bigger question: what if we built an entire experience around this? Not another utility. Not another tool. But a place designed from the ground up for the way friends actually communicate, and stay close.

That's how Alfi was born.
